We had a great week at Saddle Ridge School filled with learning, laughter and marking 100 Days of School! There are many events, clubs and school spirit days coming up. Please take note of the Key Dates listed below.
Jump Rope for Heart – March 4-8
Jump Rope for Heart is the school FUNdraising event that nobody wants to SKIP! Students will discover fun ways to get active, practice healthy habits and learn about helping others while raising money to beat heart disease and stroke. Our Jump Event will be held in PE classes between March 4-8. The funds kids collect supports research that helps other kids and families across the country. As our heartfelt thank you for your support, students can earn a Thank You Prize, like an online gift card – from Toys “R” Us, Indigo, Amazon or Walmart. Pink Shirt Day- February 28
Two Nova Scotia high school students inspired Pink Shirt Day by organizing their fellow students to wear pink in support of a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Pink Shirt Day on Feb 28 is a time to encourage Albertans to stand up to bullying when they see it in schools, communities, workplaces, at home and online. Students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt that day.
Buses Running Late
While the majority of CBE bus routes have a regular driver assigned to the route, our transportation service providers continue to face a bus driver shortage that is impacting many students and schools. Even if the ice looks frozen solid, conditions are still dangerous. Unlike a normal pond, water levels are constantly changing which creates unstable air gaps between the ice and water. Plus, water in these ponds contains sediment and contaminants, which weaken the ice.
